Norfolk Admirals to raise money for multiple sclerosis | WTKR.com ...

The Norfolk Admirals are on the road tonight, headed to Syracuse New York, but it was the action off the ice on Monday that is now trending on Twitter.?

It all started as a friendly wager between Admirals goalie Frederik Andersen and left wing John Kurtz.?

?We started out making a couple bets, me and Kurtzy. First the coin toss, then whoever scored first. I ended up losing both bets,? says Anderson.?

?It seemed like I couldn?t lose a bet at the time. He told me to stay hot. I sent a tweet out about that and he had the idea to try to get it to start trending, and I guess [it] kind of snowballed,? says Kurtz.?

Kurtz decided to use this newfound twitter fame to help raise money for the MS Society, a cause that is very close to his heart. His father was diagnosed with MS about 10 years ago.

?He?s an inspiration to me and I thought I would try to do something good for him and for the community around here and help to try to find a cure,? says Kurtz.

Kurtz?s work for MS doesn?t stop with tweets, he carries it onto the ice every game.

Every win we get, I?ll make a donation myself of $25, just to put my money where my mouth is,? says Kurtz.?

So the next time you are at the Norfolk Scope, keep an eye on number 12. He?s the one making the big plays and raising the big money.?

You can show awareness and support, by coming out to the first Norfolk Admirals Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Night to benefit the National MS Society, Hampton Roads Chapter on March 1st.
